FAQ

The things everybody asks

How does booking work?

Put down a $200 deposit to reserve your spot on a tour. Once at least three riders have signed up, we set the dates with the group and send an invoice for the balance, due 30 days before the tour starts. Your deposit counts toward the tour price.

Is the deposit refundable?

Yes. Your $200 deposit is refundable any time. Just ask. It's what holds your spot on a tour, and you can also move it to a different tour.

What if a tour doesn't get enough riders?

Your spot stays reserved until the tour fills. You can wait, move your deposit to another tour, or get it back.

When is the balance due?

30 days before the tour starts.

How many riders are on a tour?

Three to six bikes. Never more. We match the riders on each tour so the group meshes, then build the ride around what that group wants.

Who will I be riding with?

People we think you'll get along with. We talk to every rider before the dates are set, pay attention to pace, experience, and personality, and put together groups that fit. Riders who sign up alone go home with friends. That's the part we're proudest of.

Can I bring a passenger?

Yes. The passenger price is listed on each tour page, from $400 on the Ozarks to $1,200 on Montana. It covers their tours and admissions, plus their flight and airport transfers on the fly-in tours. They share your room.

How does my bike get there?

Drop it off with us in Des Moines, Iowa. We send the exact address when you book. We trailer it to the start of the tour, and it's waiting when you arrive. After the tour, we haul it back to Des Moines for pickup.

What's included?

Bike transport, round-trip flights, airport transfers, historic hotels, a planned route, a lead guide, a support vehicle, and every paid tour on the itinerary. The Mississippi River tour starts and ends in Des Moines, so it has no transport or flight. Everything else is included.

What's not included?

Food, drinks, fuel, bike repairs and parts, and your riding gear. If your bike fails on the road, our spare emergency bike is $50 a day.

What if my bike breaks down?

Our support vehicle follows every tour with tools and a trailer, so you and your bike won't be stranded. If your bike can't continue, we carry a spare emergency bike. Ride it for $50 a day and finish the tour. Repairs and parts on your own bike are on you.

How much riding experience do I need?

At least 1,000 miles of riding. Expect 150–250 miles a day, much of it on curvy two-lane roads.
